What is a bank bonus?

A one-time cash amount a bank or credit union says it will pay a new customer who opens an account and meets set steps, such as direct deposits or keeping a balance for a time. The bank sets the terms and can change them.

Where does the offer information come from?

Only from each bank's own offer page or its terms. Every offer shows a link to that page and the date and time it was last checked. If a detail isn't on the bank's page, it says 'not stated'.

What does 'not stated' mean?

The bank's page didn't say. We don't fill gaps with guesses. Ask the bank before you count on it.

What is a direct deposit requirement?

Many offers need regular income, like a paycheck or government benefits, sent electronically into the new account. Transfers between your own accounts often don't count. Each offer lists what its bank says counts.

What is a lookback rule?

A limit on who can get the bonus based on history, for example no bonus if you had an account in the last 12 months or got a bonus in the last 24. The eligibility check uses these to give an estimated date you might qualify again.

When can I close the account?

Some banks charge a fee or take back the bonus if you close early. Each offer lists any early-close terms its bank states. The tracker shows an estimated safe-close date, but the bank's terms are what count.

Are bonuses taxed?

Banks usually say the bonus may be reported to the IRS as interest. Ask a tax professional about your situation.

Does this site recommend any offer?

No. It lists offers you may qualify for, with the bank's own terms. Whether one fits you is your call; check the bank's page before you apply.

Does PlainBonus see my bank accounts?

No. Never type account numbers, card numbers, logins, passwords, Social Security numbers or birth dates here. The eligibility and tracker info you enter stays on your phone or in your browser.

How does PlainBonus make money?

Right now it doesn't. There are no paid links. If that changes, any paid link will carry a clear 'Paid link' label, and pay will never change which offers are listed or their order.
